From a use perspective Comcast has much lower upload speeds than FIOS (they allocate more of their limited bandwidth to downloads since that is what most people use) and is prone to slowing down during busy times of the day due to congestion. . Dial-up -> DSL -> Cable -> Fiber (FIOS) Cable is always going to be worse than Fiber as far as Internet, and DSL worse than cable, and dial-up worse than DSL. AT&T was charging me $60 for 18 mbps down and 1 mbps up, and they have a stipulation for charging $5 for every 50 GB over 250 GB used per month, though that was never enforced upon me. Xfinity isn't as bad as AT&T in pricing for what you get, but they try hard to hide the upstream, and back when I used them, they had a 1 TB softcap per month ... I had Comcast for 7 years, it constantly went out. My internet would time out checking email. Tech support was bad, the only solution was to constantly reset my modem…not always an option when I wasn’t physically home.With Xfinity, some plans require you to sign a one-year contract, others require a two-year commitment, and some require no contract at all. AT&T charges $10/mo for internet equipment fee, which is the "residential gateway" and acts as both modem and router as you stated. Fair point, modem is free with Spectrum, but router is not if you need theirs. You'd probably want 100mbps if your going to be doing 4K streaming. You'll also probably want unlimited data for $30/month because if you do a lot of 4K streaming you'll probably hit the 1.2TB data cap. Xfinity has no upside. Worse product, worse value, worse stability, worse company. I’ve had a better experience with AT&T Fiber than Google Fiber. Over the course of 1 year with ATT we never had a single outtage. Oh they sell you whatever claim you’ll buy.
